A school where learning happens through experience

Hands-on learning is one of the most valuable ways to transform the philosophy of holistic education into reality. At Sainte Victoire International School, learning comes alive through meaningful, collaborative and engaging experiences.

A curriculum enriched by experiential learning

Our teaching philosophy is built on a simple idea: when students are actively engaged, learning becomes more effective. At Sainte Victoire International School, learning extends far beyond the classroom walls. From primary school onwards, children are encouraged to observe, experiment, debate and create. This approach continues through middle and high school, where the IGCSE and IB programmes strengthen students' independence, critical thinking and collaboration.

SVIS delivers an education that makes learning meaningful. It enhances academic achievement whilst fostering the development of essential social, emotional and interpersonal skills. Both in and out of the classroom, our students benefit from a wide range of experiential learning opportunities, including:

  • Collaboration across grade levels, fostering a culture of mutual support.
  • Meaningful projects linked to the curriculum, encouraging exploration and participation.
  • School trips in France and around the world, where students explore new cultures and apply learning in diverse contexts
  • Students regularly take on academic challenges that promote engagement and teamwork, designed and supported by our teaching staff.
  • During the IGCSE years, students also carry out individual research projects based on their personal interests, helping them build independence, curiosity, and a strong sense of initiative.
  • Etc.

A school year shaped by meaningful experiences

At Sainte Victoire International School, the academic year is structured around key events that enrich the student experience and create memorable learning opportunities. These signature programmes develop transferable skills and build stronger connections within our school community.

Week without Walls

One of the most anticipated events of the school year, the Week without Walls invites students to step outside the classroom for a school trip in France or abroad. For those staying on campus, a full programme of local outings and activities offers an equally rewarding experience.

Week of the Press

This is an immersion into the world of press and media. Students are invited to explore current local and international issues, analyse different journalistic formats, and reflect on how language evolves according to different media. This event develops their critical thinking and raises awareness of media literacy.

International Day

This day celebrates the cultural diversity of our international community. Student families represent their countries of origin through stalls, culinary specialities, and cultural anecdotes. Students thus have the opportunity to discover more than 40 nationalities in a fun and immersive way.

MUN (Model United Nations)

MUN is a unique experience that allows students to develop their public speaking, argumentation and diplomacy skills. Organised on campus and during trips abroad, particularly to England, it immerses them in debates on major global issues.

Science Day

Created in collaboration with the Ermitage Education Group, this interdisciplinary initiative enables students to explore various scientific disciplines through hands-on experimentation.

Our calendar also includes traditional cultural events such as the welcome reception at the beginning of the year, celebrations of St Patrick's Day, Valentine's Day, Halloween, Carnival, as well as other international celebrations. At the end of the year, a festive celebration brings together families, students and teachers. It is a joyful and meaningful way to close the school year as a community.

The House System: a tradition that brings students together

The house system at Sainte Victoire International School is rooted in British educational traditions, fostering a strong sense of community throughout the school. This structure promotes active engagement across all year groups while nurturing team spirit, personal responsibility and school spirit.

Our two houses, Cézanne and Mistral, are named after iconic regional figures. At the start of each academic year, students are assigned to houses with careful consideration given to age distribution, gender balance and keeping families together.

A variety of academic, athletic, artistic, and cultural activities bring the House System to life, including:

  • Sports tournaments
  • MUN conferences
  • Charity drives including clothing and food collections
  • Knowledge competitions
  • Musical performances
  • Various other events

Each activity awards points to the participating houses, with the winning house celebrated at year-end. However, the real value lies not in the final standings but in what students gain from the experience: teamwork, shared commitment and the joy of supporting one another.

The House System is a friendly competition rooted in meaningful values.

Shaping curious, open-minded and engaged citizens

Educational experiences at SVIS are designed as opportunities for self-discovery and learning in different ways.

Through these experiences, students strengthen their independence, develop their sense of responsibility, build critical thinking skills and cultivate genuine openness to others. They also learn to collaborate, take initiative, and begin to shape a strong sense of civic responsibility.
